Sarah Sze

Whilst at the Tate, i investigated Sarah Sze's work and found it amazing as of not only the intricacy and colour, but the actual form of the piece. I was inspired by this to develop my final Sculptural piece, utilising a similar idea of hanging colours and shapes from above to develop layers when looked at from different angles. Sze's work particularly caught my eye due to her use of everyday construction objects, such as a ladder and spirit level, which implies the idea of it not being finished and ongoing, somewhat also developed by the cyclical curve within the centre of the piece. I enjoyed the way the piece moved through cutouts in the wall so it is impossible to find a true start or end to the piece. Furthermore, I attempted to create my piece using a similar creative process to Sze, by abstracting real, still life, which she did in order to create this beautiful piece. I wanted to develop the idea of an amplifier without displaying an amplifier, or even any parts of one represented, just through the pieces combined.
